 2026 Ocean Safety Summit — Coming Up!

Day 1 — October 27 – Old Princeton Landing, Princeton-by-the-Sea 9:00 AM
Free and open to the public — everyone is welcome!

Day 1 will feature an incredible group of water-safety professionals and big-wave experts, including:

Peter and John Mel, the legendary big-wave father-and-son duo. They will share how they prepare for the big-wave season, manage risk, and operate safely in some of the world’s most challenging surf conditions.

Mark Sponsler, sharing his experience surfing and forecasting big swells at Mavericks and the upcoming Super El Niño 

An Air Station San Francisco helicopter pilot and rescue swimmer

Day 2 — October 28 – Water Operations Training

Day 2 is an exclusive training opportunity for safety crews, big-wave surfers, and PWC photographers who want to learn more about interacting with and supporting water safety operations.

There will be only 35–40 spots available, so we need to get an accurate head count.

If you’re a surfer or photographer interested in participating, please email mavericksrescue@gmail.com with a brief explanation of why you would like to attend the training.
