Ocean Safety Summit
2024 Ocean Safety Summit
Mavericks - Half Moon Bay
Greetings all. We’re just over a month away from the 2024 Ocean Safety Summit and are excited about this year’s lineup. Day #1 will highlight World Champion Big Wave Surfer Peter Mel, who will share his experiences surfing big waves worldwide and developing his risk management plan. Along with Pete, we have Amy Gubser, a renowned long-distance swimmer. Amy will share her experience swimming nearly 30 miles from San Francisco Bay to the Farallon Islands and planning for such an amazing undertaking. We’ll also have Brian Garcia from the National Weather Service, Air Station San Francisco Helicopter Pilot, and Rescue Swimmer, amongst other safety professionals.
Day #1 will happen on October 23rd at 9:am at the Old Princeton Landing in Princeton by the Sea. Day #1 is free and open to the public. All are welcome.
Day #2 [10/24/2024] is an exclusive opportunity for safety crews, big-wave surfers, and PWC Photographers who want to learn how to interact with water safety. We need to get a head count for day #2 water ops, as there will only be 35 to 40 slots available. If you’re a surfer or photographer, please email us at mavericksrescue@gmail.com with a brief explanation of why you need the training. Don’t miss out on this chance to enhance your skills and contribute to water safety.
